This just in: Conditions worsen in my backyard, alley [PIC]

Check out the view from my alley:

Snowlocaust 02/2011!

Blizzard to leave many buried under a foot of snow, millions worried

This just in…

Well not really. If you live in the Midwest, then you have already heard about the upcoming blizzard that is supposed to hit more than 20 states with about 12-20 inches of snow. Sounds like only a dusting to me.

As if you havent heard enough already, click the image below or here for more info on this “snowpocalypse”.

Welcome, February

Well, it’s that time again.

It’s time to round up that January to-do list and start a new one for the new month.

Last month update:

  1. Go sledding.  I never got around to sledding last month.  I figured this to-do should roll over from last month’s to-do list. I still have yet to do this (maybe with the snow from the upcoming blizzzzard??)
  2. Feast on some cream puffs. I hear they’re great pastries to eat with coffee. Perfect winter treat. Still haven’t done this.
  3. Work on my mashup project. Yeah, still havent finished this. I just want to drop it already. DONE!
  4. Take more pictures of snow. The cold, cold, snow.
  5. Start my Instamatic project. Some day, I’m going to take a an empty 126 film cartridge, refill it with 35mm film, and then I’m going to stick it in a Kodak Instamatic camera and marvel at the flawless results. After researching this, I decided not to do it. Instead I invested in a new Lomographic Society camera, DIANA MINI!
  6. Work on that resolution! I can’t procrastinate. At least for this month. In progress

So the ones I haven’t done yet (and #6) will be rolled over to February. I haven’t really given much thought of things I want to do in the month of Feb.  If any ideas come up, I’ll post them here.

Are You An Xpro Pro?

SatSpotI wanted to turn the spotlight to cross processing (xpro, in photography).  I love the lo-fi look that it gives. What’s your film of choice when cross processing?

Speaking of…

frifav Since the last couple of posts were dedicated to the musical fusion that is known as the mashup, I’d like to share a movie with you concerning the legal side of mashups and the origin of remixes. This documentary, “RiP! A Remix Manifesto” by filmmaker Brett Gaylor, has been added to the ‘favorites’ pool.

Abbsterocity has done it again

It’s been a week since I dropped my first mashup. Sure it was kind of raw, but it was still awesome. Seven days and countless edits later, I’ve managed to mix another one:
Logic and the Middle by Abbsterocity

SatSpotI would like to turn the spotlight one of several artists who will be on my watch this year: Moe Pope. Reason: I need more Bostonian MCs in my life, or at least my iPod.

First Friday Favorite of 2011

 frifav
As a fan of superhero movies, I would like to add the movie The Green Hornet (2011) to the list of Friday Favorites. Forget about what purists say about it not being true to the 1930’s radio version. The Green Hornet is just another great example of how today’s culture  is built on the culture of the past.
If you have an itch to see a ridiculously unrealistic but fun movie this weekend, The Green Hornet can cure that itch. Go see it!

All Mashed Up

January To-do list update:
3. Work on my mashup project. Yeah, still havent finished this. I just want to drop it already.
Check.
Please note: This is my first mash up/remix/whatever. I'm still working on the timing and glitches in the middle, but here's what it sounds like so far.
Also, it needs an ending and a name. I’m open to suggestions/criticism.
Jay Z vs OK Go by Abbsterocity
I really enjoyed the process of ‘musical fusion’ and I think everyone should attempt to make one at least once in their life. That’s why its number #4 on my How To Be Cool list. Check it out.

New Month, New To-Do List

Since the new year year and month just started, I figured I should make a new list of things to do before the end of this month.
  1. Go sledding.  I never got around to sledding last month.  I figured this to-do should roll over from last month’s to-do list.
  2. Feast on some cream puffs. I hear they’re great pastries to eat with coffee. Perfect winter treat.
  3. Work on my mashup project. Yeah, still havent finished this. I just want to drop it already.
  6. Work on that resolution! I can’t procrastinate. At least for this month.
That’s all that comes to mind. If I think of anymore, I’ll update.

Bentley BX-3

I would like to introduce my Bentley BX-3 camera (a pseudo SLR) to the blogosphere and the internets.
SDC12427
I’ve had this camera (and the Bentley W-14 flash unit attached) for quite some time now. The reason I’m presenting it now is because I finally have developed my film that I used with the camera. Behold:
winter0001 This is just one of the photos from my first roll of film that I used with ‘The Bentley’.  For a ‘toy camera’, this guy can take really sharp images. In the end, my test roll ended up capturing some crisp images. I am now working on a second roll of film. Can’t wait to see how those come out!

It’s a New Year

newyear
I hope everyone partied like it was 1999! I know I did. My only resolution is to stop being such a procrastinator! As of now, that’s my top priority.
