Hipster Disney Memes: WHY???!

As seen on BuzzFeed:

Don’t bank on this

As you may know, the Academy Awards is fast approaching.  What you may not know is that “Exit Through the Gift Shop”, a documentary by graffiti artist Banksy, has been nominated for Best Documentary.  What is for certain is that Banksy has been denied the request to attend the award show in disguise, the Red Eye reports.

If he wins the award, how else could he accept his award? I guess we’re just going to have to wait.

Hey Chicago!

Did you vote?

Accesorios!

SatSpot

Spotlight: The Nymph

I don’t know how I stumbled upon this, all I know is that these accessories (especially the rings) are very fun and unique. Check these bad boys out:

Turn Up the Lights!

I know I’ve said this before, but I love fonts and anything that has to do with typography.  When I heard about Kanye’s fontastic intro to his new video, “All of the Lights”, which dropped Friday, I had to see it.  It is definitely a piece of work, both artistically and musically.  Check it out below.

Save the Clocktower

MUSICA No, we’re not talking about Back to the Future here.  I’m talking about the Electro/Experimental/Pop outfit from Chicago.

You can find a review by Broke Hipster here as well as a free download of Broke Hipster Music Blog pick, “The One Thing”.

Be sure to check out their Facebook, Myspace, and Twitter pages to learn more about them and listen to their chill tunes.

The Original Recipe, Revealed

Thinking about chicken? Think again.

How about Coca Cola? Bingo!

The Huffington Post reports that the public radio show “This American Life” has revealed the secret formula for the bubbly soft drink.

Host Ira Glass is convinced the secret formula lies within a photograph. The photograph allegedly shows a handwritten copy of the original Coca Cola recipe, which includes the secret ingredient, “Merchandise 7x”

To find out more about the recipe and the actual ingredients, read the Huffington Post article OR listen to/download the “This American Life” episode Original Recipe.

To My Valentine

valentinDoes anybody else find this offensive? I mean, that guy is hideous!

V-Day Love Songs

Let’s face it, there are a lot of songs about love and Valentine’s Day, songs about breakups and makeups.  Instead of making a V-day playlist (because I’m sure you already have one) I’m just going to list three quick-pick songs about loving love.

“She Loves You” – The Beatles

“Boys of Summer” – The Ataris

“Digital Love” – Daft Punk

Love and Polaroids

frifav Here’s a nice little Valentine’s Day poem I found via The Impossible Project:

I wrote your name in the sky but the wind blew it away. I wrote your name in the sand but the waves washed it away. I shot a picture of you with my Polaroid and forever it will stay.

Shovel

snowEDIT

Polaroid Super Shooter

Polaroid 100 blue Giambarba expired film

After shoveling snow for about 6 hours altogether, I finally declared our sidewalks clear!  Then I went sledding. Huzzah!

Our Little Makeshift Slope

There’s a hill right off the I-90 (Skyway) that is suitable for sledding. But being sore from yesterday’s shoveling duties, I didn’t feel like walking the mile it takes to get there.  So instead, I went venturing in my alley, where there was snow as high as my waist. There was also a tall staircase that we used as our makeshift slope, seen here:
kind of a makeshift slope for sledding

More on Snow [Groan]

I found a video that is somewhat relevant to what Chicagoans are experiencing now. The video below will answer many of your questions such as:

  1. Where does snow come from?
  2. Is it dangerous?
  3. Will the snow stay forever?
  4. How do I get snow off my car?
  5. What happens if snow touches suede?

Enjoy.

Snowpocalypse 02/2011

Okay so I guess I underestimated this snowstorm. It’s pretty crazy out there. I went outside to shovel snow but the wind proved my efforts useless.  So since I was outside already, bundled up in about 5 layers of clothes, I decided to make use of it and take pictures. SDC12441

Not a car in sight.  This makes me want to venture out and befriend a polar bear.
