The Second Installment of MIDNIGHT SHOWERS!

This is the second installment of Midnight Showers are NOT Cool! except I didn’t take a shower at midnight. More like 10:30p.

Anyways, yeah did just take a shower pretty late. So late that I cant blow dry my hair without waking everyone up. I’m just going to blog as I wait for my hair to air-dry.

So, I finally decided to convert my trial version of Microsoft Office to the full version, which I just installed right now. Soundtrack the installment of MS Office: Weezer’s “Buddy Holly” (I love this song so much)

Today was a relatively productive day: I woke up, ate breakfast with the fam, went to church, practiced my saxophone, and went to Best Buy, which was actually a fun experience.

As usual, I played RockBand, some Wii game, and some Nintendo Ds game. I didn’t get to play with DJ hero because a couple of kids beat me to it.  I got the MS Office, then went on to browse the movie titles.

I could not believe my eyes. They had the one movie I’ve been looking everywhere for, well everywhere except Best Buy apparently. Which movie? ACCEPTED! I’ve been to flea markets, movie rental joints, movie catalogs, everywhere! It was at best buy this whole time. AND IT WAS ONLY FIVE BUCKS. That was TEH WIN of the day.

On my way home, I stopped at a movie rental place to see if it was there, just for laughs (it wasn’t), and I ended up buying 27 Dresses for another five bucks. Not bad.

The remainder of the day like this: Got home. Ate leftover Chinese food. Watched 27 Dresses. Took a shower. Started Blogging.

Oh, and my fortune from the leftover fortune cookie is: Beauty in its various forms appeals to you. That’s not even a fortune :/

Well, my hair’s not dry yet, but I have run out of things to say. Except for I love Rivers Cuomo. And Weezer, of course!Rivers Cuomo rivers3

Mystery Song…Revealed!

Have you guys ever seen the Palm Pixi commercials with the awesome music? Well for a long time I didn’t know it was a real song or just one that they made exclusively for the ad. Just recently, though, I found out it is a real song. The song is “Sleepyhead” by Passion Pit. Check it out:

My favorite part starts at 1:20, which is actually what hooked me in.

And if you haven’t noticed, there’s a link to see the actually commercial!

Fri Fav: Drum n Bass!

frifav Feelin a little chill tonight. I don’t know what it is. It might be because I’ve been listening to drumnbass all night.

Pictured above, from left to right: Funki Porcini, Mr. Scruff, and Hexstatic. Some of my favorites.

I recommend checking out their beats if you’re into Techno, more specifically, drumnbass, or ninja tune and even acid jazz.

#3 Watch Wassup Rockers and Deck Dogs

Sorry guys. Short post. :/. Not really feelin it.

Midnight Showers Are NOT Cool

Huh? What? What’s with this title?

It’s me, complaining about taking showers at midnight or near-midnight. It sucks. I can’t blow dry my hair because everyone is sleeping. I can’t go to sleep with my hair wet because the last time I did that I woke up with a migraine (was it just a coincidence?) So now I have to wait til its kinda dry.

So in the meantime, I thought I’d share something with my audience (a mid-week saturday-spotlight to make up for last saturday)

So this morning I was in a rush to take the 8:30 bus to school, so I totally skipped breakfast (Oh, Lucky Charms, how I missed thee!).  Somehow, taking the bus 15 minutes early made me thirty minutes early for my next class, so I decided to take a detour.

On my detour, I passed by the new smoothie joint named Starfruit in the mall, Block 37. It’s a pretty cool looking in hangout. Their smoothies and parfaits are made with Kefir, a yogurt-type treat with active probiotics that are good for your digestive system (for more info, click here).

I thought I‘d try a smoothie in my favorite flavor, mango.  It went down so smoothly in my mouth and it lasted me til around 1 o’clock in the afternoon. I recommend it to anyone who wants to venture away from the Jamba Juice crowd!

For more info on Starfruit Cafe, or to find a cafe near you, click here

Looks like my hair is nearly dry. Guess I can go to bed now :D!

Dust Bunny Free!

My day in a nutshell:

Got out of school. Went to work. Got out of work. Went home. Found a bunch of old crap in my room.

My mom decided to clean under my brother’s bed today (which used to be my bed) and put all the shoeboxes and giant candy boxes (you know, the kind they use for fundraising) full of old junk in my room. Five boxes total. I looked through it and came to the conclusion that I hold on to the most useless things ever. Some of them include:

easy4 (1) -Easy bake oven mix. Sugar cookie and chocolate cookie!

-My high school acceptance letters

-Fish Fortune Teller

-An autobiography I wrote in third grade

-Notebooks and folders and papers from high school

-Eighth grade field trip pictures!

-Huge box of Crayolas

-Some old Wendy’s menus??

The list could go on and on. Seriously, how was I supposed to get rid of all this?

Well, I read somewhere that a good strategy for getting rid of junk is: If you haven’t used it/thought about it in the past six months, its garbage.

I’ve managed to reduce five boxes of junk to two small shoes boxes of mementos that I could not part with.

For me, that’s a mission accomplished.

In Other News…

SDC10091

Today was the day we had our first cook-out of 2010!

Well, technically, it was a cook-out-eat-in type of thing. It’s kind of self explanatory: cook the food outside, eat the food inside.

What was  the point of the cook-out-eat-in? Well it was also one of the first days in 2010 when the temperature was above 40°. So it was warm enough to stand outside but still cold enough to avoid picnicking in the back yard.  We were also craving the taste of grilled steak you can only get on a grillmaster.

Note: The above photo is a file photo from August 2009!

I've been MIA

Sorry, peeps. Busy weekend. Didnt have time to post yesterday or the day before. Yeah, sorry, that means no Friday Favorite til next week :/. I'll also have to pick up the slack this coming week.

Another Rambling of Goings-on in My Head

So I was reflecting back on this past week and realized it went by so quickly. It's already about to be FRIDAY. It was like just yesterday was monday and I was down in the dumps but now that its friday my mood has turned around for the better.

I dont know what it is, but I feel great. Smug.

Actually, it might be because the week was great, I got paid today, and the weekend ahead looks promising. Classes are going good, I'm reconnecting with old friends and even making new ones.

Some of you may already know this but this is what I call being high on life. You should try it sometime.

To-Do list, Continued

I have terrible news. If you haven't noticed, I broke my streak of posts yesterday when I DID NOT POST ANYTHING. I was kinda busy doing homework. Well I guess thats what I get for procrastinating (I was supposed to start reading the novel on Wednesday to finish it by today but that never happened xD)

Which brings me to my next thing to put on my To-Do list (or not-to-do):

#2. DO NOT EVER, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, PROCRASTINATE!
your blog readers will be very disappointed when they dont
see a new post because you decided to wait til the last
minute to do your homework!!!

Haha. I'm joking of course. But seriously, that needs to stop haha.

I think I should still add something to the list...

THE REAL #2: Learn how to make Tapas (Spanish snacks)
See full size image

I went to a restaurant north of the loop where they specialize in tapas (click here for more info on restaurant) and they were delicious!

I imagine they are easy to make. And I bet they would make a great treat at kickback! I just need an excuse to make some.

Is making food for the sake of making food a good reason?

How to be a bum all day according to Bloggins' gotfilk

No school today. Or work. And its Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr Day. Truly a great man. Today looked promising.

Or so I thought. I did not do anything productive today. Depressing.

If youre for tips on how to be a bum at home all day, you've come to the right place. Today's list of events included:
  1. Waking up at 9.
  2. Playing el saxophone til 11
  3. Eating a bowl of cereal
  4. Playing piano before switching over to sax
  5. Talking on the phone and use of computer
  6. Shower/change out of pajamas (around 1:30)
  7. Talk on the phone some more
  8. Eat, watch TV, etc etc
See what I mean? Where is my life going? At the moment, I'm feeling kinda depressed. I mean today is the day we observe one of the most inspiring people of all time. He fought for equality. For justice. For human rights. And here I am at home being idle taking advantage of life. I just feel like i put life on hold. And for what?

All I know is this jig is up.

Saturday Spotlight on...

So I was browsing through some of my old link in my 'Favorites' folder and I stumbled upon the link saved for Polyvore. I forgot how awesome it is. If you dont know what it is, read for yourself:

Polyvore is a free, easy-to-use web-based application for mixing and matching images from anywhere on the web. It is also a vibrant community of creative and stylish people.

Polyvore lets you create sets composed of individual images using an easy to use, drag and drop editor. After you have created a set, you can publish and share it with your friends and the Polyvore community.

+ + + + =

What makes this web app so awesome is that its like a virtual closet. Almost every image that is online is available for use. You basically have a blank canvas with the web as your media. The app can be used to design an outfit, search for a new look, or for social networking. There is also a convenient feature that locates links to websites to shop for the individual items in particular sets.

Haven't used this in a while, but my account is still up. You can find my user account under the name 'gotfilk9984'

So yeah, check it out! You might see an outfit you like or an idea for something to wear tomorrow!

First Friday Favorite!

Okay, so this is a new thing I'm starting (I kind of borrowed it from another blogger, but they probably borrowed it from someone else). Every Friday I'm going to post one of my personal favorites. It could be a song, website, product, person (the next Friday favorite could be YOU! haha), etc. Anything goes.

This week's Friday Favorite is: The Tokibot Robot Clock found here!

They're pretty awesome. My sister has one and I kinda wish I had one of my own. The site where I found this has a great deal of robo-themed knickknacks and a lot of other awesome doodads that are worth a gander. My second favorite robo-themed thing from this site? Robo Key Covers!

My mind is an empty field

My mind's blank. Can't really think of anything worth typing. So I'm just typing for the sake of typing. Hoping this will lead me from the empty field to a solid trail. I have thoughts here and there, but I cant find a way to string them together

Thoughts on my mind:

Math

Litter

Noodles

Spicy ketchup

Music

My Left foot

What do all these mean?

Thats all I have. Sad, I know. It might be too late for me to even be thinking. I just feel better knowing I have exercised my mind for a bit.

It's on my To-Do list

#1: Watch Suicide Club (Jisatsu Sākuru, directed by Sion Sono)
It looks kind of gory but has that ever kept a film from rave reviews?

Tuesday, January 12, 2010

Hey blog, it's been a while...

So I realized that I havent blogged in a loong time, not since My Summer Chronicles. So its about time I get back on track.

I just had a crazy idea.

I'm going to school right now so I can be teacher. But isnt that just a day job?

I need a night job. Something to get me through those rough days when all I can think about sickly kids.

As I was listening to the beats of Celldweller's "Stars of Orion" it came to me. I can be a chem teacher by day and DJ by night. Not just any DJ. I will be the next female Mr. Scruff.

Sounds awesome. But I don't know the first thing about DJing. Of course I won't let that stop me. I could always take up lessons on the way. There's always the thrill of the chase.
