Friday Faveee

frifavHey readers, I know it’s been ages since the last time I gave you all a Favorite, so enjoy this one:

I found this on UrbanOutfitters.com and immediately fell in love. It’s the Ion USB Portable Turntable. I’ve been looking for an inexpensive portable turntable for a while now since the one I already have is too bulky to lug around. It’s a record player that is part of an old-school stereo system complete with radio and dual cassette players. This would be perfect for moving around. Did I mention it can turn vinyl into MP3’s? BONUS!

I’m tempted whip out my debit card and buy it online right now! I think this little guy is worth its sale price of $99 considering all that it can do.

Want to find out what else it can do? Thinking about buying it? Find it here!

How 2 b kwl

Hey people of the blogosphere, long time no see! I have finally decided to take a break from end-of-semester woes and provide a third tip on how to be cool.

#3. Build your own kite and fly it

In case you didn’t know, April is known as National Kite Month and what better way to celebrate it than to make your own flying contraption.

Mad props go to these kids. You guys are cool.

Art as a Real Threat

If you know me, you would know I’m a typography junkie. I’m like a pack-rat when it comes to fonts. Some of the fonts I have downloaded are still waiting to be used. Sometimes I wish I was a graphic designer so I could put them to good use. But until that day comes, I guess I will continue on collecting fonts and ideas for them and marvel at other people’s work.

I spotted an awesome compilation of some of the greatest designers on earth. The way they use typography is just inspiring. Some of my picks:

That was just 3 out of the 53 mind-blowing uses of typography!

If you want to see the rest of them click HERRRRRE!!! There are also links to external websites for more information on the designers

My personal favorite? It was tough deciding, but I am going to have to say it is Patswerk Grafisch Ontwerp (#6 on the list in the link above). The use of colors works for me and so do his drawings :)

Enjoy!

A Dedication

…to “Lilo”, Rick, and maybe Corey.

Enjoy.

Rompers?

Rompers. I don’t know how I feel about these. You might say they look like adult onesies or you might say they look like high-fashion playsuits, depending on your style.

Some of you might be asking, what is a romper? Well, thanks for sticking around this long. A romper is literally a hybrid of a dress and shorts.

After browsing some store websites, I’ve come to realize that there are two types of rompers: raggedy lookin’ rompers and stylish looking rompers.

versus

Can you tell which one belongs in which group?

In my opinion, the one on the left looks more like sleepwear than out-and-about-wear. The one on the right looks sweet and simply chic.

I still don’t know how I feel about them. Are they practical? How can anyone pull this off?

My observations led me to this conclusion: If you are lean, have long legs and have no stomach rolls or butt, then you can buy all the rompers you want. For those that do not fit the criteria, it’s okay. Not everything can fit every body type. Just move on.

I’m still torn between loving and hating this look. Guess I’m going to remain on the fence until I actually wear one. And that leaves me to my last question, directed to my (female) readers: Would you ever wear a romper?

Mystical Monday!

OK, there’s nothing mystical about today, I just used that to get your attention.  I know I have been MIA for quite a while. I was off getting married…TO MY ALLERGIES!

So how about them White Sox?! They killed the Indians in their home opener with a final score of six-zip. I only wish I witnessed it at the Cell, but i had to attend classes this afternoon.

In other news, the weather has been great lately. March went out like a lamb, with record temps in the eighties last week. Aye, it was a good week; I spent all my time outside playing Frisbee, softball, soccer, etc. I did end up suffering from muscle aches and allergies the next couple days, but I didnt care.  Those were fun times.

And like clockwork, the April showers have arrived. My fortune cookie tells me its supposed to rain a couple days this week. I guess that’ll give me more indoors-time to catch up on blogging. Boo-urns!

That about covers it. More updates/posts soon, I promise!
