Updatesszs!

Day three and four of the OneWeek FSGB project have been completed. See the updates below:

After getting the word out about my formspring page using twitter most of the time, the questions started rolling in. I guess if you want your page to be known and want more people to visit it, then some advertising is required.

So I got the ball rolling with the questions now but my complaint is this: why do I have to keep pressing the refresh button to see if I have new questions? I think it would be way simpler if there was a live feed or notifications like facebook every time you got a question. Just sayin.

I can’t really update on the goings-on with Google Buzz. I dont update often because I don’t have followers because there arent that many people using Buzz to begin with. And I’m still having a problem with the timeline!!

Thats it for now. I will return with the final update at the end of this project/investigation/test on saturday!

FormSpring/Buzz Update

So I’m finishing up day two of testing formspring.  Here are my first impressions:

The first thing I thought was that the set up for an account was quick.  All I needed to enter was my name, a desired username/password, email and a short bio. Took me less than five minutes to get an account.  I didn’t bother with changing the design or customizing it.

Once you get passed creating an account, then you can start answering questions. But who’s going to ask those questions? Well the one thing that sucks is that you have to advertise your page. How? Well, if you have a facebook or twitter account, then cool, you can just post an update telling people to “Ask me anything!” followed by your page URL. If you don’t have any of those, I guess there is myspace, if people still use that, or your blog. Either way, you're going to have to use something outside of formspring to get the word out. Once you have done that, then you can wait patiently as the questions start coming in, slowly but surely.

I got a little bored with Formspring on Day One, so I decided to jump into the Google Buzz pool.

First Impression: It is exactly like twitter, but instead of having people tweeting, they are buzzing. Shouldn’t the Google Buzz symbol be a bee? I guess not, because then we would have the birds and the bees (???)

Anyway, that’s what I thought at first. Then I explored its interfaces. The thing that I like about Buzz is that there is no 140-character limit. You can also comment on other people’s posts more like you do in facebook. In addition to that, the geo-tagging feature is awesome. You get to see what the buzz is in your area if your phone is gps-enabled.

Despite all this, there is one flaw I found with Buzz. On the home page, the timeline of status updates isn’t really in chronological order. I have to scroll down to see new posts because the ones at the top are from 4 hours ago.

Well, that’s it for now. I’ll come back with more updates later.

Spotted.

Google Buzz!

Recently, Google took social networking to a new level with Google Buzz. Think Twitter, only with photo and video uploading capabilities at the same place; no need for external apps or plug-ins. And what’s cool is the geo-tagging feature and seeing what the buzz is in near your location. For more info go here or watch the video.

So are Facebook and Twitter going to follow the fate of myspace? Will the become obsolete? As the saying goes, only time will tell.

I have yet to actually try this, but if any who reads this has experienced Google Buzz, youre welcome to share below!

and one more thing…

FormSpring Me???

So what’s up with this formspring business? By now you, the readers, probably know what it is already. It’s been around for a while now and it looks like it’s gaining popularity with the in-crowd of social web media. Like Google Buzz, I have yet to test these waters. I figured since it doesn’t sound like a long-term commitment, I might as well try it (Google Buzz, your time will come!). Updates on that soon!

A Friday Favorite with Love

Hey! Long time no see! I feel like I’ve been on hiatus and now its time for me to come back with this week’s Friday favorite!

frifavIn the spirit of Valentine’s Day, I’ve decided to compile a list of some of my favorite V-Day themed things. You’re welcomed to enjoy them this Sunday!

Favorite Candy    Of course I have to put this at the top of my list.  I admit, I get a pretty bad case of cravings for chocolate, but who doesn’t? One treat I cannot go without mentioning is Hershey’s Kisses!

Favorite Pastry   On the subject of sweets, I thought I’d add a  section for favorite pastry.  It’s cheesecake! I’m not sure if this counts as pastry, though I often spot it in the bakery section of grocery stores. And this isn’t really loved-themed, but I would love if someone bought me a cheesecake on Valentine’s Day!!! *HINT HINT, COUGH COUGH*

Favorite Movie    I’ve watched a couple of sappy love stories and hilarious romantic comedies in my years.  But today, I saw Valentine’s Day, and it is by far one of the best V-day-themed movies I’ve seen yet.  It’s all-star packed rom-com about the intertwining love lives of a couple dozen people (not really, its more like 20 people. Whoa!) with guaranteed laughs.  Learn more here.

Favorite Love Song    This is a tough one.  I could think of sooo  many songs.  But the first one that came to mind was “Earth Angel” by The Temptations.  Granted, there are many out there. So does anyone care to share what their favorite love song is?

Favorite Lip Smacker   Again, there are a lot of lip moisturizers and tinters and whatnot, but there’s one in particular that I like to pay lip service to.  In my opinion, Burt’s Bees Lip Shimmer does a great job of moisturizing the lips while giving them a modest splash of color and shimmer.  This ain’t yo mama’s ordinary chapstick!

Now that I’ve shared with you my faves for Valentine’s Day, it’s time for me to get some Kisses and cheesecake and watch sappy romance films. Happy Valentine’s Day!

Alright so I have a song stuck in my head again.  And when this happens I just want the whole world to get a chance to experience this song dancing around in their heads for a while. Enjoy.

Look at me! I’m [sorta] responsible!

Okay, so I’m being a responsible blogger and letting ya’ll know that there will be no official blog post today because I’m working on some homework.

Yeah, I thought I was being responsible by giving the heads up, then I thought: working on homework on a Sunday night is not responsible at all. It’s procrastination! AH!

That is all. Blog ya later!

First Spotlight of the Month

Stand up if you’re a fan of Rockband or even Guitar Hero.

Stand up if you have an iPhone or iPod Touch.

Well, my friends, the first Saturday Spotlight goes to the Rockband app for the iPhone/iPod Touch.

This is app is uh-maze-ing! Graphics are hella good; it looks just like the console version. I think the full version is worth every penny but if youre cheap or you just want a sampling, there is a trial app for the low, low price of free (its free for a reason: you could only play one song!

Like I said, it’s worth every penny because there’s so much to do. You could play four ways (see above) in Quickplay, Tour mode, or multi-player. Set-list is pretty good, and there’s an in-app Music store where you can buy more tracks to add to the set-list.

It’s just unbelievable. Check it out if you have the means. If you don’t, you’re welcome to use mine :D

It’s time for this week’s…

frifav One of the adventures I had today was to the movie rental place a few miles from my house. It’s no Blockbuster, but it has some gems worth renting and/or buying (Sega, anyone?). I was browsing the dvds for sale when I saw Charlie Bartlett and remembered seeing the preview for it on the Accepted dvd. I decided to buy it, and for only $5, it was well worth it! That’s why it is this week’s Friday Favorite.

And for those of you who have never heard of it or seen it, enjoy the trailer:

I’m back and I’m okay

Sorry I’ve been M.I.A for a while. See, what had happen was I was on the train with my laptop in my book bag and as I was about to get off the train, I ran into to laptop-stealing ninjas. It was too bad I didn’t flash back to my ninja moves in time like Chuck, or else those ninjas would have been killed dead. They did some fancy hypnotism and got away with my laptop! But, with the help of a pro wrestler and a grand baby piano, I was able to track them down. The ninjas are now serving a life sentence on the sun for daring to cross ME!

Too bad I made that up. I have no real excuse why I didn’t blog, except for Wednesday, which was the day I stayed up writing, er, finishing a paper due the next day.

BUT. I have news. I am finally reunited with the world of Apple and ipods. That’s right, my ipod came Thursday. In fact I’m waiting on a software update as I type (but as you read I will have already finished)

Thats is all. Sorry to those who actually do read my blog!

Song’s been running around through my head.

Just thought I’d share this with you. It’s not a real music vid, but the song is there.

Bassline is coolio. Lyrics are catchy. Enjoy.

February First

First day of February. Oh joy. I can see the rest of this month is going to be teh sux. I started off the month sick. I don’t even know what it is. When I woke up, I felt fine, just sneezed a lot. As the day progressed, the inside of my nose got itchier, like I was about to sneeze but I just couldn’t get it out. Now I just have an itchy, runny nose. I NEED TO SNEEZE!

Enough about my enfermedades (translation: diseases. I just felt it sounded better in Spanish).

This week should be promising as I am expecting my ipod to be delivered later this week!! 16G iPod touch, baby!

Other than that, I have no high hopes for February. That is all.
